The Commodity Exchange (CE) is planned to be an email-based service for the exchange and transport of commodities of all kinds, including information, tangible products and precious metals. Accounts are denominated in grams of gold (gogs). Commodities appraised by bonded appraisers or held by bonded account holders are traded with confidence. The amount charged for each transaction is so small as to not be a consideration and is the same regardless of the size or type of the transaction. The conventional "check clearing" function is performed by existing bullion banks as part of their normal business transactions with coin and bullion dealers.
The CE was originally proposed to Truth Seeker, Inc., but resource problems limited development to the conceptual design stage. The 1996 CE specification is made available here in the hope other freedom-loving investors will find the concept as exciting and influencial as we do. Also of interest is an artical on electronic money.
